Tech 21 Acoustic Fly Rig Multi-Effects Board for Acoustic Instruments
Tech 21 Acoustic Fly Rig Multi-Effects Board for Acoustic Instruments
The Tech 21 Acoustic Fly Rig takes the same concepts behind other Tech 21 Fly Rig-series pedalboards and adapts them for acoustic instruments. It features reverb, delay, chorus, and Tech 21's signature SansAmp amplifier emulation, albeit tailored for acoustic sources. In addition to an EQ section giving you controls over lows, mids, and highs, you'll also find a sweepable notch filter to suppress feedback, and a low-pass filter to filter out harsh trebles frequencies. A phase-flip switch is also on hand.
A compressor section evens out your sound with the stomp of a switch, while a boost section gives you up to 12 dB of extra signal for solos and lead breaks. This section also boosts your midrange for clarity and presence. A tap/tuner footswitch hold two functions; it can serve as your tap-tempo control over delays, or, held down, it can engage an on-stage tuner.
The chorus/delay and reverb sections have their own footswitches, and buttons are on hand for switching between chorus and delay, as well as sending signal to the headphone jack, or routing your guitar to the XLR output. This comes in particularly handy when you use the Acoustic Fly Rig with house systems or recording interfaces. A 9 VDC power supply is included.
SansAmp EQ Section
The all-analog SansAmp section provides sweepable, semi-parametric, and active EQ controls. You'll also find a notch filter, spanning from 70 Hz to 350 Hz, this is designed to diminish the sensitivity for feedback caused by the resonating frequencies of acoustic guitars. A low-pass filter, sweepable from 16 kHz to 1.5 kHz, rolls off undesirable frequencies and artifacts.
Reverb
This dedicated Reverb function emulates the rich ambience of open spaces, ranging from room to hall.
Boost Function
The independent Boost function gives you up to approximately 12 dB of extra level. It's useful for solos and lead breaks, and includes a wide midrange boost for clarity and emphasis.
Compression Section
The Comp section utilizes an all-analog FET-based circuit, one that's inherently warm, transparent, and musical.
DLA Delay and CHR Chorus
DLA emulates a warm-sounding analog delay. It features time and repeats controls and a dedicated tap-tempo footswitch. CHR is a preset chorus based on pitch-shifting technology. It aims for a natural, 12-string sound.
